About This Show

What is freedom and what will we sacrifice for it? Do we exchange one prison for another? A woman faces unexpected transformations, considers impossible choices, and endures the shifting nature of time in Cassie Terman’s atmospheric solo performance, Citizen of Trees. Weaving together monologue, movement, and music, with elements of improvisation and archetypal imagery, this is an allegory of safety and escape. Comedic and dark by turns, the piece traverses internal landscapes, exposing the map to freedom as it unfolds, revealing answers that are both unique to the pristine and primal world Cassie creates, and universal to the one we all inhabit. Directed by Allen Willner.
