Joseph Hardy directs Alan Ayckbourn’s Things We Do for Love at the Old Globe. Fastidious Barbara allows an old school chum and her lover to rent a flat in her lovely Victorian home. Her only other tenant is a highly unusual postman/handyman, who is obsessed with his landlady. This clever script is is a wondrous mix of domestic comedy and sexual tragedy, the two empires for which Ayckbourn has been the master of contemporary playwrights.
