Every week, hundreds of unsolicited, unregistered scripts arrive at Hollywood production companies aspiring to be made into feature films. Most of them never even get read…until now. Each week Magnum Opus Theatre presents an unbelievably awful screenplay, condensed, but otherwise unaltered… word for word… unedited… we didn’t change a thing.
For three years, Magnum Opus Theatre has (in various forms) skewered the universe of bad screenplays on the Sacred Fools’ stage. It is mock-Masterpiece Theatre at its very best (worst?)– complete with host Thurston "Thursty" Eberhard Hilsboro-Smythe at the helm, faithfully reading every misguided stage direction while the highly skilled Magnum Opus Players masterfully navigate these nonsensical, overwrought, and ill-conceived scripts. The current selection for this limited engagement is entitled What’s Love Made of, Anyway?, a curiously symmetrical love story about perfect relationships, breakfast food, and zealously gratuitous usage of select anatomical terms.
