Theatre West West presents Nunsense, directed by original creator Dan Goggin, who has written some new material, including a song, for the legendary Betty Garrett. The cast also features Lee Meriwether, Bridget Hanley, Barbara Mallory, Rhonda Stovey and Sandra Tucker.
Betty Garrett portrays Sister Julia, Child of God (a character only referenced in the original version of the show). Ms. Garrett is, of course, the star of classic MGM musicals and Broadway who became known to a successive generation of audience members for her work on TV as a series regular on All In The Family and Laverne and Shirley.
In the show The Little Sisters Of Hoboken, an order of nuns, desperately need funds to accomplish an urgent task within their immediate community, handling an emergency precipitated by Sister Julia. So, what do they do? They put on a show, and sing and tap-dance their way into your hearts. A sub-plot involves Sister Mary Amnesia miraculously recovering her lost memory.
