The Maverick Theater stages an original adaptation of Night of the Living Dead, the cult classic B-movie that launched the “zombie film” genre. Six strangers hold up in a rural Pennsylvania farmhouse and battle constant attacks from dead locals who have been brought back to life by a mysterious radiation. Director Brian Newell, who wrote this adaptation based on the screenplay by George Romero and John Russo, says that while “it may not be as violent and gory as Shakespeare’s Titus” Night of the Living Dead does have “an eleven year old girl eating her daddy’s arm.” For anyone who loves visiting haunted houses during Halloween – or has a weird thing for zombies – this is just the ticket.
