About the Show

The Pasadena Playhouse presents the West Coast premiere of John Patrick Shanley’s Defiance, directed by Andrew J. Robinson.

The play is set in 1971 at North Carolina’s Camp Lejeune, where the military base is rife with racial unease. When Colonel Littlefield, a white officer, invites Captain Lee King, a black officer, to his home to discuss the building tensions, unexpected and profound events turn the discourse from race to an even deeper exchange that touches the hearts and souls of all involved.
