Brooklyn Rundfunk Orkestrata: The Hills Are Alive

The Sound of Music is one of the most-beloved musicals of all time, but you’ve never heard it quite like this. In a season of musical mashups, the band members of BRO have updated some of their favorite things about these songs, with the full blessings of the von Trapp family and the Rogers & Hammerstein organization.

Taking a smart approach to the music and characters, each song is in a different style. The harmony of the Jackson 5’s "ABC" transforms into the family singers learning to sing "Do-Re-Mi." "Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” a testament to female empowerment, gets a Mary Blige old school treatment. Not to give it all away, but you’ll also hear some bluegrass, jazz, klezmer, and some great all-out rock ‘n roll.
