An original one-act play by V.R. Marianne Zahn, Apples is an examination of what happens to values and beliefs when a prisoner and his guard engage in a life-or-death power struggle. The companion piece, War Prayer, combines the text of Mark Twain’s 1905 anti-war poem of the same name along with transcripts, testimony and interviews related to the Abu Ghraib prison scandal including statements by Brig. Gen. Janis Karpinski, Pfc. Lynndie England, Rush Limbaugh and others.
