New York City
A Streetcar Named Desire is the story of Blanche DuBois, hanging on to her delusional world of grandeur as Stanley Kowalsky’s animal lust and rage drive her to madness. Blanche is a descendant of a decayed southern family who cannot reconcile herself to the fact that she no longer is living the life of a wealthy Southern belle. She has lost the family mansion and her job as a teacher due to her promiscuity and heavy drinking. Her final recourse is to go live with her sister, Stella, and her husband Stanley, in New Orleans.
