About This Show

The Brown/Trinity Rep Consortium presents The New Generation, the MFA graduate thesis projects for the directing students. The first MFA thesis production is The Cure at Troy by Seamus Heaney directed by Donya K. Washington ’08 (Brown/Trinity Rep Consortium ’08).

The Cure at Troy by Seamus Heaney is the story of a young man at the crossroads of his life. One teacher says go left, another says go right – and that choice will define his life. The play has become well known, in part because of its association with the conflict in Northern Ireland. One section in particular became quite famous during the Good Friday peace agreements: “…But then, once in a lifetime, the longed-for tidal wave, of justice can rise up, and hope and history rhyme.”
