About This Show

Sue Costello, acclaimed comic, actor, and writer is set for her triumphant return to Boston for one night only with two performances of her one-woman show, Minus 32 Million Words, at the Red Room. The show–alternately hilarious and heartbreaking–track’s Costello’s life growing up in Dorchester, Massachusetts, and how she developed a desperate need for fame and money, only to realize that without trust in herself, nothing could make her happy. As to the origin of the show’s title, Costello explains: “The show is called Minus 32 Million Words because I read an article in the New York Times that said that poor kids hear 32 million less words than rich kids and thought, “I want to bust through those limitations and tell my story, even if ‘they’ say I don’t have the words.” The show is about going for your dreams and second chances, all while remembering where you came from. It’s life imitating art.” Costello has starred on NYPD BLUE, Last Comic Standing, and appeared in the film The Fighter alongside Christian Bale, Amy Adams, and Mark Wahlberg.
