About This Show

It is the fifth longest running show in the history of Broadway and is celebrating its revival on Broadway right now! The songs are powerful classics throughout the world; to name a few- "Some Enchanted Evening", "A Wonderful Guy", "Younger Than Springtime", and "Bali Ha’i." The rousing song, "There is Nothin’ Like a Dame," brings everyone back to that World War II era, and the loneliness suffered by men of war everywhere. This musical was inspired by the Pulitzer Prize winning book, Tales of the South Pacific by James A. Michener. Sensitive issues like racism are freely discussed at a time when such topics were taboo. The song, "You Have to Be Carefully Taught" exemplifies how we learn to hate and discriminate against people our relatives hate.
