A panicked flight to Canada, a partner who only wants to keep her job at Harvard, and a secret you never wanted to tell… What could possibly go wrong?
Boston resident Lyralen Kaye (SAG/AFTRA, AEA) is the writer and performer for an upcoming premiere production of Many Trump Refugees in One Body. Directed by Caitlin Inglis of Boston and dramaturg Lisa Merchant of Second City Toronto, this solo show takes the audience into the experience of immigration and the frantic dance of trying to convince the officials you're worthy to cross the border…permanently. "I'm a social justice writer," Kaye says. "My work is always about equality in both our public and our most intimate lives…and our utter ridiculousness in trying and failing to live up to our best ideals. This memoir piece shows that I'm at least as ridiculous as everyone else. Okay, more so. I'm definitely in the 'more so' category."
