About This Show

Set in the Pale of Imperial Russia in 1905, Fiddler on the Roof tells the story of Tevye, the father of five daughters, as he struggles to maintain his family and Jewish tradition while external influences encroach on their lives. He must cope with the strong-willed actions of his three older daughters as well as an edict from the Tsar that evicts the Jews from their village.

The winner of won nine Tony Awards, Fiddler remains Broadway’s 16th longest-running show in history. Featuring music written by Jerry Bock, with lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and a book by Joseph Stein, Fiddler is filled with timeless classics, including “If I were a Rich Man,” “Matchmaker, Matchmaker,” and “Sunrise, Sunset.”
