Bill Charlap Plays George Gershwin is a follow-up of this artist’s Grammy-nominated album of 2004Somewhere-the Songs of Leonard Bernstein. Bill was born into a musical family. His father, Moose Charlap, wrote the scores for Peter Pan, Alice through the Looking Glass and many other Broadway musicals and his mother, Sandy Stewart is a singer who performed with Benny Goodman for many years. Charlap studied with Dick Hyman, Jack Reilly and joined Gerry Mulligan’s band in 1994.
