Tuna Does Vegas

What happens in Vegas doesn’t stay in Vegas this holiday season! On November 16, Tuna Does Vegas hits the Vortex stage for a 5-week run, re-uniting the lovable and eccentric characters from the “third smallest town in Texas” as they take a rambling romp in Sin City. This fourth saga in the wildly popular Tuna series begins when conservative radio host Arles Struvie announces on air that he and his wife Bertha Bumiller are heading to Vegas to renew their wedding vows. By the end of the first act, a planeload of their oddball neighbors from Tuna, Texas have decided to go along for the ride, launching a string of hilarious bumpkins-in-the-big-city adventures.

As in past Tuna shows, two energetic actors sporting a quick-change array of costumes and wigs bring to life some 20 different characters, including Tuna’s sanctimonious Vera Carp, crotchety old Aunt Pearl, gun-toting Didi Snaveley, and two Tastee Kreme waitresses attempting to get jobs as Vegas showgirls. Along the way, the Tuna regulars meet some bizarre new Vegas characters–the exotic hotelier-turned-psychic Anna Conda and a pair of dueling Elvis impersonators, to name just a few.
