Four-Time Tony Winner Boyd Gaines to Star in Our Town at George Street Playhouse
The decorated Broadway veteran returns to the New Jersey theater to lead the cast of Thornton Wilder's American classic.
New Brunswick, New Jersey's George Street Playhouse has announced that Boyd Gaines, winner of four Tony Awards (the most ever won by a male actor), will star as the Stage Manager in its upcoming production of Thornton Wilder's Our Town. The American classic will close out the theater's 40th season.
Gaines will reunite with director David Esbjornson, who helmed the 2010 Broadway revival of Driving Miss Daisy, in which he performed in New York and London. He earned Tony Awards for his performances in The Heidi Chronicles, She Loves Me, Contact, and the 2008 Broadway revival of Gypsy, starring Patti LuPone. Gaines last appeared on the George Street Playhouse stage in 2010 as the harried dog owner in A.R. Gurney's Sylvia.
"I am so pleased to welcome Boyd back to George Street," said George Street Artistic Director David Saint. "He's an extraordinary talent, and I couldn't be more pleased that he is a part of this very special production in our 40th season."
