Singer Rachelle Spector, wife of the currently imprisoned record producer and songwriter Phil Spector, is developing a musical based on his life and works, according to the Hollywood Reporter. "It's in the beginning stages now, but [first] we're writing the book [and a] screenplay," Spector told the Hollywood Reporter in an interview about HBO's Phil Spector film, which was written and directed by Pulitzer Prize-winning and Oscar-nominated playwright David Mamet (Race).

Spector told the Hollywood Reporter that due to a confidentiality agreement she "can't really talk about it yet, but it's going really well. I do run everything. I hold the cards, so nothing can happen without me approving it. It's going to show a whole different side of my husband. My main focus is going to be on his career and how he changed music."

Despite his illustrious career, Phil Spector's legacy lies in his 2009 conviction of second-degree murder for the 2003 shooting death of actress Lana Clarkson. He is currently serving a prison sentence of 19 years to life at the California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison at Corcoran.

Phil Spector has worked with renowned artists including the Ronettes, the Crystals, Ike and Tina Turner, John Lennon, George Harrison, and the Ramones. He produced the Beatles' album Let it Be and the Grammy Award–winning Concert for Bangladesh by former Beatle George Harrison. He was the inventor of the "Wall of Sound" production technique used by many girl groups of the 1960s and produced more than 25 top-40 hits from 1960-65. Spector was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989.

Addressing the songs that may be featured in the show, Spector commented, "It just depends on how far back I want to go, and getting rights for some of the John Lennon songs," she said about the musical. "There are a lot of people who, as you know, don't like my husband, so the music is really going to dictate the direction I go for the musical."

Rachelle and Phil Spector married in 2006. She currently manages his companies and estate as well as her own record label and publishing company. It's clear that love trumps all according to Spector's recent song release, "PS I Love You…" (despite your murder conviction).
