The West End production of Lee Hall's Shakespeare in Love is considering a Broadway transfer, according to published reports. Sources suggest that the play would appear on the Great White Way during the 2015-16 season and likely feature London stars Lucy Briggs-Owen and Tom Batemen.
Shakespeare in Love is adapted from the film of the same name, which featured an Academy Award-winning screenplay by Marc Norman and Tom Stoppard. The stage production is directed by Cheek by Jowl's Declan Donellan and designed by Nick Ormerod. The story follows William Shakespeare, who discovers forbidden love while searching for the cure for his writer's block.
Shakespeare in Love opened at London's Noël Coward Theatre on July 23.
