The Greatest Pirate Story Never Told! Takes Manhattan This Fall
After successful runs in Provincetown and elsewhere, the family musical will make port at the Snapple Theater Center.
The swashbuckling musical The Greatest Pirate Story Never Told! will sail into New York City after riotous runs in Provincetown and at the New York Renaissance Faire. The half-scripted, half-improvised show will be staged at the Snapple Theater Center this November.
The show follows Captain Henry Martin and his crew as they are flung into the future by a wacky sea witch to perform a great pirate epic. But when their script is destroyed, the pirates must improvise the rest of their performance with suggestions provided by the audience.
"I love this show because it's specifically written for both kids and adults," says the show's creator, Christopher Leidenfrost. "We have over-the-top characters, rousing musical numbers, and crazy, slapstick comedy that never disengage the imaginations of our younger audience, but it's also filled with moments of wit and precision that grown-ups can appreciate and know are just for them."
The cast of The Greatest Pirate Story Never Told! features David Anthony, Rebeca Diaz, Christopher Leidenfrost, Risa Petrone, Kevin Maphis, and Dan Pivovar. The show begins previews November 2 and will open December 5.
