Star-Studded Casting Announced for Nathan Lane- and Matthew Broderick-Led Broadway Revival
Jack O'Brien's production of Terrence McNally's ''It's Only A Play'' will play the Schoenfeld Theatre.
Emmy winner Megan Mullally (Annapurna), Tony winner Stockard Channing (Other Desert Cities), and Oscar winner F. Murray Abraham (The Threepenny Opera) will join Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick in the upcoming Broadway revival of Terrence McNally's It's Only a Play, producers have announced. Directed by Jack O'Brien, the production serves as a reunion for the dynamic Producers duo of Lane and Broderick, as well as for Lane and Mullally, who recently starred in O'Brien's concert staging of Guys and Dolls at Carnegie Hall.
Broderick will take on the role of Peter Austin, a playwright suffering through the opening-night festivities of his Broadway debut. Lane will play James Wicker, his insecure and egotistical friend who left theater for television. Mullally takes on the role of Julia Budder, the first-time producer of Peter's play. Channing takes on the role of actress Virginia Noyes, with Abraham as theater critic Ira Drew. Micha Stock will play the coat-check attendant.
Additional casting and members of the creative team are still to be announced. It's Only a Play will officially open on October 9 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre.
