Len Cariou, Christopher Jackson, and More to Sing the Music of Elton John at Birdland's The Pop Show
Broadway veterans Kyle Dean Massey, Van Hughes, and Jarrod Spector will also perform.
Tony Award winner Len Cariou (Sweeney Todd), Christopher Jackson (In The Heights), Kyle Dean Massey (Next to Normal), Van Hughes (American Idiot), Jarrod Spector (Jersey Boys), and more are set to perform the music of Elton John at Birdland Jazz Club's premiere iteration of The Pop Show on May 27.
The Pop Show is a new Birdland concert series that will celebrate the nexus between Broadway and pop culture. A new concert with a different theme will be presented each month. The Pop Show is created and produced by John Capo with music direction by Brandon Sturiale.
The May premiere of The Pop Show will feature Elton's music, from soul-searching ballads to up-tempo rock hits. Proceeds from the concert will benefit The Trevor Project, an organization focused on suicide prevention in the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning community.
The Pop Show band and singers include Mike Rosengarten, Cody Owen Stine, Brandon Sturiale, Adam Wolfe, Melanie Brook, Melanie Burg, and Clint Carter.
