The Public Theater's free Shakespeare in the Park production of King Lear has begun rehearsals. The tragedy plays The Delacorte Theater from July 22-August 17.

The production stars Tony and Emmy winner John Lithgow in the title role.

Joining Lithgow in the role of Goneril is Tony and Oscar nominee Annette Bening in her first New York stage appearance in two decades.
