Here Lies Love Return Engagement Announces Full Casting and Dates
David Byrne and Fatboy Slim's award-winning musical will once again play the Public Theater.
Here Lies Love, David Byrne and Fatboy Slim's acclaimed immersive musical inspired by the life of Philippine First Lady Imelda Marcos, will begin performances of its open-ended return engagement at the The Public Theater on April 14. Opening night for Alex Timbers' production, which will once again play the Public's LuEster Hall, is set for May 1.
Ruthie Ann Miles will return to her role as Imelda Marcos along with Conrad Ricamora as Ninoy Aquino and Jose Llana as Ferdinand Marcos. The company will also include Renee Albulario, Carol Angeli, Melody Butiu, Natalie Cortez, Debralee Daco, Kelvin Moon Loh, Jaygee Macapugay, Jeigh Madjus, Maria-Christina Oliveras, George Salazar, and Janelle Velasquez.
With staging by Timbers and choreography by Annie-B Parson, Here Lies Love features a company that performs the show throughout the theater space, on two separate stages that become linked by a rotating platform. Adding to the show's nightclub feel, most audience members stand throughout the piece's 90-minute running time and are guided to follow the rotating platform.
Conceived by Byrne, lead singer of the Talking Heads, and featuring a score by Byrne and rapper Fatboy Slim (as well as additional music by Tom Gandey and J Pardo), Here Lies Love won 2013 Drama Desk Awards for Outstanding Music, Lighting, and Projection Design, as well as the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding New Off-Broadway Musical. Joey Parnes Productions and EMURSIVE (Jonathan Hochwald, Arthur Karpati, and Randy Weiner, principals) serve as producers for the return engagement.
