Halley Feiffer and Daniel Eric Gold Set for Second Stage's The Substance of Fire Revival
The Jon Robin Baitz drama will begin performances April 10 off-Broadway.
Full casting has been announced for Second Stage Theatre's upcoming revival of Jon Robin Baitz's The Substance of Fire. Directed by Trip Cullman, the drama will begin previews April 10, with opening night set for April 27.
Leading the company are Halley Feiffer (The House of Blue Leaves), Daniel Eric Gold (subUrbia), Carter Hudson (The Whipping Man), John Noble (Fringe), and Charlayne Woodard (Stunning). The play follows Isaac Geldhart, the patriarch of a family publishing house, as his children struggle to convince him to publish a much-needed best seller. The work premiered in 1991 at Playwrights Horizons and was adapted for the big screen in 1996.
The revival marks a homecoming for playwright Baitz, who made his New York playwriting debut at Second Stage in 1988 with The Film Society. He was most recently represented on Broadway with Other Desert Cities.
The Substance of Fire will feature scenic design by Anna Louizos, costume design by Emily Rebholz, lighting design by Peter Kaczorowski, and sound design by Jill BC Du Boff.
