Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas! Is Heading Back to the New York Stage
The production is set to run at Madison Square Garden.
Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, which played on Broadway in 2006, will head back to the New York stage this winter. MSG Entertainment has announced that the musical will have a limited holiday run at the Theater at Madison Square Garden from December 5-28.
The Grinch, based on the classic Dr. Seuss story, features a book and lyrics by Timothy Mason and music by Mel Marvin. The production played on Broadway for two seasons, in 2006 and 2007, with Patrick Page originating the role of The Grinch. It was most recently staged in New York in 2012, when Jeff McCarthy played the title role during a holiday engagement at The Theatre at Madison Square Garden.
The original production was conceived and directed by Jack O'Brien. The 2014 production will be directed by Matt August and will feature choreography by Bob Richard that is based on the original choreography by John DeLuca.
The musical has also played for several seasons at San Diego's Old Globe Theatre.
