Plays by Catherine Butterfield, Iddo Netanyahu, and Sheldon Bull Set for Abingdon Theatre Company 2014-2015 Season
Butterfield's ''It Has to Be You'' will kick off the season this fall.
Abingdon Mainstage Theatre has announced the new plays that will complete its 2014-15 season.
The season will open with Catherine Butterfield's world premiere of It Has to Be You (October 3-26), directed by Stuart Ross. The comedy, in which a wealthy widow becomes involved with a much younger man, examines what can happen when adult siblings must juggle responsibilities for their own children as well as an aging parent.
Next, Alex Dmitriev will direct the New York premiere of Israeli-American author Iddo Netanyahu's A Happy End (February 27-March 29). The plot follows a Jewish family in 1932 as they consider leaving Berlin amid the imminent rise of the Nazi Party.
The season's final offering will be the world premiere of Mallorca (May 29-June 21) by Sheldon Bull. Donald Brenner directs this play in which male bonding takes a hilarious toll when four men in the midst of personal crises discover the meaning of friendship.
Casts and creative teams of all three productions are to be announced.
