Producers Orin Wolf (Once) and Maxwell Williams are developing a new musical based on Eran Kolirin's film The Band's Visit, which won the Jury Coup de Couer prize at the Cannes Film Festival. Broadway icon and 21-time Tony Award winner Harold Prince has signed on to direct the production at Hartford Stage during the 2014-2015 season.

The Band's Visit is the story of the Alexandria Ceremonial Police Band. When they arrive in Israel to play at the opening of a cultural center, their hosts don't show, and an error in communication sends them in the wrong direction. Soon, the band finds themselves in a small settlement in the heart of the Negev desert with no transportation out until morning and no hotel in sight.

Producer/director Harold Prince holds more Tony Awards than any other individual. As a producer, he has been attached to such musicals as The Pajama Game, Damn Yankees, and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. He has also directed works including Hollywood Arms, The Visit, and The Great God Brown.

Connecticut's Hartford Stage is one of the leading resident theaters in the United States. While presenting a wide range of works from classics to provocative new plays and musicals, Hartford Stage has earned many distinguished awards, including the Regional Theatre Tony Award, the Margo Jones Award for Development of New Works, and OBIE and New York Critics Circle Awards.
