Artist of Light combines elements of contemporary, hip-hop, Latin, and break dancing, along with the group's signature lightsuits to tell a story of adventure and romance. The show follows Jacob, a talented young artist who possesses a magical paintbrush that allows him to turn imaginary characters into living beings. He is soon faced with the task of defending his friends from an evil townsperson who steals it and turns his characters into horrifying monsters.
"I can't think of anything more exciting than returning to New York with this show for an extended run! We promise to amaze and astonish audiences again by raising the stakes, both technically and creatively," says iLuminate founder, creative director, and software engineer, Miral Kotb.
Justin "Kanobby" Keitt, best known for offering music direction for the popular hip-hop group Far East Movement, will serve as music director for this New World Stages production. Artist of Light's creative team also includes Athena S. Bienvenu (playwright), Steven Bryson (associate producer), Christopher Tignor (composer), John "JRock" Nelson (choreographer, scenic designer, costume designer), as well as Dario Mejia and Marcus Allan Cobb (additional choreography).
