Diahann Carroll to Receive Pasadena Playhouse's 2014 Diversity Award
The Tony winner will be awarded the prize at an upcoming fundraising event.
Tony Award winner Diahann Carroll has been named recipient of the Pasadena Playhouse's 2014 Diversity Award. The honor will be presented September 21 at the eighth annual Pasadena Playhouse Wells Fargo Theatrical Diversity Project fundraising event.
"I had the true honor (and the great fun) of directing Diahann Carroll here at the Playhouse in our production of Blue," said Pasadena Playhouse Artistic Director Sheldon Epps. "She has become a good friend and a great supporter of my work here. Diahann has been a great trailblazer and pioneer in our field, opening many doors in the entertainment industry. One could say that the Diversity Project itself is in the grand tradition of her achievements."
Carroll starred on Broadway in House of Flowers and won the Tony Award for her role in No Strings. She received an Academy Award nomination for Claudine and starred on the groundbreaking TV series Julia, for which she won a Golden Globe, as well as the hit TV series Dynasty.
