Sweeney Todd Soundtrack Will Be Released on December 18
The soundtrack to Dream Works and Warner Bros. Pictures’ upcoming film of Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, will be released by Nonesuch Records on December 18. In addition to that album, Nonesuch will simultaneously release a deluxe version with the complete motion picture soundtrack.
The film, which is directed by Tim Burton, will be released on December 21. It stars Johnny Depp (Sweeney Todd), Helena Bonham Carter (Mrs. Lovett), Alan Rickman (Judge Turpin), Timothy Spall (Beadle Bamford), Sacha Baron Cohen (Adolfo Pirelli), Jayne Wisener (Johanna), Jamie Campbell Bower (Anthony), Laura Michelle Kelly (Beggar Woman), and Edward Sanders (Tobias Ragg), all of whom do their own singing.
Longtime Sondheim collaborators orchestrator Jonathan Tunick and music supervisor Paul Gemignani also worked on the soundtrack, which was produced by Mike Higham and recorded in London.
