Blackwell and Headley to Join Brian Stokes Mitchell at Carnegie Hall

Tony Award winner Heather Headley and opera star Harolyn Blackwell will join musical theater superstar Brian Stokes Mitchell at a special benefit concert for The Actors Fund on Monday, October 15 at Carnegie Hall. The concert will be directed by Richard Jay-Alexander, and Paul Gemignani will serve as musical director and conductor.

Headley won the Tony for Best Actress in a musical for Aida. Blackwell appeared as Cunegonde in the Broadway revival of Candide. Mitchell’s other guest stars will include Reba McEntire, with whom he co-starred in a concert version of South Pacific at Carnegie Hall, and Tony winner Phylicia Rashad, with whom he performed in a benefit concert of A Wonderful Life.

In addition, Tony winner Patti LuPone will present the Actors Fund Medal of Honor to producer John Breglio that night.

Mitchell’s repertoire will focus on his theater work. He received the Tony Award for Kiss Me, Kate. His other Broadway credits include Man of La Mancha, Ragtime, Jelly’s Last Jam, Kiss of the Spider Woman, and Oh, Kay! He released his first recording, Brian Stokes Mitchell, last year.
