Chin, Tomei, Wilde, et al. Set for Women Center Stage Festival

Staceyann Chin, Marisa Tomei, and Olivia Wilde are among the artists who will take part in the 2007 Women Center Stage Festival, to take place June 25-July 17 at the Culture Project SoHo (55 Mercer Street).

Among the highlights of the festival will be a new performance piece by Chin, who appeared in Broadway’s Def Poetry Jam; Elizabeth Swados’ new theater piece Political Subversities; Tomei and actor David Strathairn in a workshop production of Carol Gilligan’s adaptation of The Scarlet Letter; We Got Issues!, a one-night performance featuring Rha Goddess, Kelly Zen-Yie Tsai, and Queen Godis; and Wilde reprising her critically acclaimed performance in a reading of Zak Berkman’s play Beauty on the Vine.

The festival will also include the concert series Emancipate at the Knitting Factory, screenings of documentary films, discussions by noted authors including Barbara Ehrenreich, Samantha Power, and Azar Nafisi, and comedy performances by Julie Goldman, Lizz Winstead, and Desirea Burch among others.
