Directed by Maria Aitken, the play is a comedic take on Hitchcock's 1935 classic thriller of the same name about a man who is forced by a mysterious woman's death into a cross-country race for his life. Behlmann will star as Richard Hannay, with MacCluggage as Annabella Schmidt/Pamela/Margaret and Jackson and Folmar as Man#1 and Man#2, respectively. The production also features Greg Jackson.
The play is adapted by Patrick Barlow, based on an original concept by Simon Corble and Nobby Dimon and on the book by John Buchan. The 39 Steps won the 2007 Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Comedy, as well as two Tony Awards, and two Drama Desk Awards.
The show features set and costume design by Peter McKintosh, lighting design by Kevin Adams, and sound design is by Mic Pool. Original movement was created by Toby Sedgwick. Additional movement is created by Christopher Bayes.
