John Behlmann, Cameron Folmar, Jamie Jackson, Kate MacCluggage to Star in Off-Broadway 39 Steps

John Behlmann, Cameron Folmar, Jamie Jackson, and Kate MacCluggage will star in the Off-Broadway production of The 39 Steps, which as previously announced will begin an open-ended run on March 25 at New World Stages, with a new opening date of April 15.

Directed by Maria Aitken, the play is a comedic take on Hitchcock’s 1935 classic thriller of the same name about a man who is forced by a mysterious woman’s death into a cross-country race for his life. Behlmann will star as Richard Hannay, with MacCluggage as Annabella Schmidt/Pamela/Margaret and Jackson and Folmar as Man#1 and Man#2, respectively. The production also features Greg Jackson.

The play is adapted by Patrick Barlow, based on an original concept by Simon Corble and Nobby Dimon and on the book by John Buchan. The 39 Steps won the 2007 Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Comedy, as well as two Tony Awards, and two Drama Desk Awards.

The show features set and costume design by Peter McKintosh, lighting design by Kevin Adams, and sound design is by Mic Pool. Original movement was created by Toby Sedgwick. Additional movement is created by Christopher Bayes.

The show had a 771-performance run on Broadway, beginning at the American Airlines Theatre and then moving to the Cort Theatre and then the Helen Hayes Theatre, where it concluded on January 10.
