Adam Shankman to Receive OUTFEST’s Visionary Award

Adam Shankman will receive the Visionary Award from Outfest, in recognition of his contributions to LGBT arts and media visibility, at the Legacy Awards ceremony to be held on October 20 at the Directors Guild of America. In addition, Lifetime will be honored with the Guardian Award for the network’s commitment, support and positive depictions of LGBT characters and individuals.

Shankman’s films include the forthcoming movie version of the movie Rock of Ages, as well as Hairspray, Cheaper by the Dozen 2, A Walk to Remember, and The Pacfier.

The Legacy Awards event will as a fundraiser for the Outfest Legacy Project for LGBT Film Preservation, a collaboration between Outfest and the UCLA Film & Television Archive, which is the only program in the world devoted to saving and preserving lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender moving images.
