Chris Connel, David Nellist Set for Northern Stage’s Close the Coalhouse Door

Northern Stage and Live Theatre have announced casting for their upcoming production of Alan Plater’s Close the Coalhouse Door, April 13-May 5 at Northern Stage. Following the engagement at Northern Stage, the production will tour the UK through June. Close the Coalhouse Door will be directed by Samuel West, with additional material by Lee Hall.

Based on the stories of Sid Chaplin with songs by Alex Glasgow, Close the Coalhouse Door was written and first performed in Newcastle in 1968, charting all the major strikes, victories, and disappointments in British mining history

The cast will feature Adam Barlow (Vicar), Chris Connel (Jackie), Louisa Farrant (Ruth), Jane Holman (Mary), Nicholas Lumley (Thomas), Tarek Merchant (Expert), David Nellist (Geordie), Jack Wilkinson (Frank), and Paul Woodson (John).
