Tony and three-time Emmy Award winner Amanda Plummer (Agnes of God) will be returning to the New York stage for the first time since her 1998 off-Broadway performance in Killer Joe. She will star in the off-Broadway premiere of Tennessee Williams' The Two-Character Play, alongside Academy Award nominee Brad Dourif (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest) at New World Stages. Performances are scheduled to begin on June 10, with an official opening night set for June 19.

Directed by Gene David Kirk, this rarely seen play is one of Williams' most personal works, as he derives much of its content from his close yet complicated relationship with his sister. It weaves together reality and fantasy as it follows two actors — a brother and sister — who are abandoned by their acting troupe while on tour but continue on to perform The Two-Character Play when faced with an expecting audience. As the play unfolds, the brother and sister begin to find it difficult to differentiate their true selves from the roles they are playing.

The Two-Character Play is being produced by Robert Driemeyer, Jim A. Landé, and Morgan Sills, with general management by Brierpatch Productions (Laura Janik Cronin and Scott Newsome), casting by Wojcik-Seay Casting (Scott Wojcik and Gayle Seay), and marketing by Ron Johnson. Ticket information, along with the performance schedule and production team will be announced at a later date.

Kirk wishes to dedicate this production of The Two-Character Play to the memory of his mentor, Corin Redgrave (brother of actress Vanessa Redgrave), who introduced the play to him, calling it "a brilliant device exposing the entrapment of humanity itself."
