I smell witchcraft. After leaving New York's Little Shubert Theatre in September 2012 for a North American tour, Potted Potter: The Unauthorized Harry Experience has boomeranged its way back to the off-Broadway stage. Set to begin performances on May 30 with an official opening scheduled for June 4, the Harry Potter parody will return to the Little Shubert Theatre for a 13-week limited run, ending on September 1.
Written and performed by Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner, the pair achieves a magical feat in retelling all seven books in the J.K. Rowling series in only 70 minutes. With direction by Richard Hurst, the show is produced by Corey Ross/Starvox Entertainment and James Seabright/Potted Productions.
In addition to being a critics' pick by the New York Times, New York Magazine and Time Out London, the production was also nominated for a 2012 Olivier Award for Best Entertainment & Family Show. Is witchcraft behind its smashing success? No one can know. But with all the Harry Potter fans attending performances, it's safe to assume that many a wand from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter will enter its doors.
Don't show this again.
