It turns out Sigourney Weaver and Christopher Durang are not the only Broadway stars that socialist playwriting duo Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill creatively inspired. Before the Grammy Award-winning Cyndi Lauper stepped into her Kinky Boots as a Broadway composer and the Tony Award-winning Alan Cumming served up a big helping of Macbeth for one, the pair shared the Studio 54 stage in Wallace Shawn's Tony Award-nominated adaptation of Brecht and Weill's Threepenny Opera in 2006. Cumming starred as the womanizing Macheath, with Lauper costarring as his ex-lover, Jenny, whose boots are arguably even kinkier than the fabulous drag queen Lola's.

In honor of Lauper's Kinky Boots opening on Thursday evening and the up-Cumming Broadway opening of Macbeth on April 21, take a look at the pair's performance of "The Ballad of the Pimp" at the 2006 Tony Awards, featuring a whole lot of hairspray, leather, and Alan Cumming's bare chest. And don't worry, the CBS video editors made sure the performance was safe for work.
