Rattlestick Playwrights Theater celebrated the off-Broadway opening of Academy Award nominee Jesse Eisenberg's new play, The Revisionist, on Thursday, February 28 at the Cherry Lane Theater, where the drama runs through April 21.

Eisenberg, who received an Oscar nod for his performance in the film The Social Network, stars in the production as David, a young author suffering from writer's block, who decides to visit his 75-year-old second cousin Maria (Tony and Oscar winner Vanessa Redgrave), a Holocaust survivor, in her native Poland as a potential source of inspiration. Daniel Oreskes (Russian Transport) completes the cast as Zenon, Maria's friend and caretaker. The Revisionist is directed by Kip Fagan, who helmed Eisenberg's play, Asuncion, in 2011.

Guests at the opening night performance included film directors Woody Allen (Midnight in Paris) and Todd Solondz (Happiness), actors Laura Linney (The Big C), Kathryn Erbe (Law & Order: Criminal Intent), Karen Allen (Raiders of the Lost Ark), Maggie Grace (Picnic), Tony Award winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur), Michael Urie (Ugly Betty), Frances Barber (Madame de Sade), Seth Numrich (Golden Boy), Hallie Kate Eisenberg (Holy Rollers), playwright Daniel Talbott (Yosemite), and talk show host Joy Behar (The View).
