With the official Broadway opening of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella upon us, TheaterMania can't help but take a stroll down memory lane to visit the televised incarnation of the classic fairytale that bathes our hearts in nostalgia. No, we don't mean the original 1957 version starring then 21-year- old Julie Andrews—though there is no one who can sing Rodgers and Hammerstein like Dame Julie. We're loving on none other than the color-blind, made-for-TV Disney masterpiece filled with soulful belting, Broadway stars, Grammy Award winners and an array of special effects with that uniquely 1990s luster. As we all so vividly remember, throwback pop singer ("The Boy is Mine" duet, anyone?) and Moesha star Brandy (now Brandy Norwood) filled the title role, starring alongside the late, great R&B legend Whitney Houston. Take a look here as the two of them belt out the classic song Impossible together. (It's a little different from what you'll see from Laura Osnes and Victoria Clark over at The Broadway Theater.) And keep in mind that everything Brandy is singing, Whitney has to sing in a gold lamé dress with an industrial wind machine blowing in her face.
