The Lyric Stage Company's 40th anniversary season of New England premieres and musical favorites will include the great American play Death of a Salesman. Arthur Miller's 1940s-set play about promise and loss is set between the four walls of an American living room.
The season's New England premieres will be Richard Bean's One Man, Two Guvnors, the recent Broadway hit based on Goldoni's comedy The Servant of Two Masters, and Water by the Spoonful, the Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Quiara Alegría Hudes about hope in a harsh world.
The American musicals Working, an updated version of the 1978 Stephen Schwartz tuner, and Into the Woods, Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's revamped series of fairytales, will round out the season.
The season will also feature two additional productions, which will be announced at a later date.
Lyric Stage Company is a Boston institution that was founded in 1974. The company's mission is to produce entertaining and provocative theater while supporting Boston-area theater artists. In the last ten seasons, Lyric has been the recipient of 18 Elliot Norton and 42 Independent Reviewers of New England Awards.
