Two-time Tony Award winner and Broadway mainstay Chita Rivera will join Williamstown Theatre Festival this summer in a production of The Visit, one of the final collaborative projects between John Kander and Fred Ebb (Cabaret, Chicago, The Scottsboro Boys).
Rivera returns to her role of millionairess Claire Zachanassian after starring in a 2001 production at Chicago's Goodman Theatre. The musical follows the wealthy Zachanassian as she returns to her poverty-ridden hometown. While the locals see her as their last chance for survival, they soon find that her financial assistance will come at a steep price.
Tony Award-winning director John Doyle (A Bed and a Chair) will helm the production, featuring a book by Tony Award winner Terrence McNally (And Away We Go) and choreography by Tony nominee Graciela Daniele (Bernarda Alba).
