Berkshire Theatre Group Artistic Director and CEO Kate Maguire has announced three new additions to the company's 85th summer season.
On the heels of a successful children's production of Oliver! last summer, BTG will offer Peter Pan as its 8th annual children's theatre production (its third children's show to be produced at the Colonial Theatre). With music by Mark Charlap and Jule Styne and lyrics by Carolyn Leigh, Betty Comden, and Adolph Green, the show is based on J.M. Barrie's 1904 stage play, which was later expanded into the classic novel. The production will run from August 8-18 with direction by Travis G. Daly and music direction by Mark Gionfriddo.
E. Gray Simons III also joins BTG's summer season with his stage adaptation of the Just So Stories. Based on the series of tales by The Jungle Book author Rudyard Kipling, the production offers answers to whimsical questions like "How did the leopard get his spots?" Directed by Simons, the play is scheduled to run on the outdoor Neil Ellenoff Stage from July 18-August 10.
Tony Award-nominated book writer Hunter Bell ([title of show]) will also be making a stop in The Berkshires to offer some words of wisdom to aspiring writers in the "Die, Vampire, Die" Workshop. Deriving its name from one of [title of show]'s original songs (the show that earned him his Tony Award nomination), Bell will offer participants an inside look into his writing process while encouraging the development of their own creative ideas.
In addition to his [title of show] notoriety, Bell recently cocreated the original musical Now. Here. This. with his [title of show] collaborators and wrote the book for off-Broadway's current smash-hit, Silence! The Musical, a parody of Silence of the Lambs.
Don't show this again.
