Behind the Scenes With Ahrens and Flaherty's New Musical Little Dancer
The musical, featuring Tiler Peck, will have its world premiere at the Kennedy Center this fall under the direction of Susan Stroman.
Tiler Peck, principal ballerina with New York City Ballet, will star in the Kennedy Center world premiere musical Little Dancer. Beginning performances October 25 at the D.C. theater in advance of a November 20 opening, the production features a score by the Tony-winning songwriting team Ahrens and Flaherty (Ragtime), a book by Lynn Ahrens, and direction and choreography by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman (Bullets Over Broadway).
The story is inspired by the young ballerina Marie von Goethem who posed for Edgar Degas and went on to become the most famous dancer in the world. Take a look at this behind-the-scenes footage of Peck — along with six-time Tony-winning costume designer William Ivey Long — in a photo shoot for the production, as the ballerina embodies the elegance and grace of the character she will soon be portraying onstage.
