Signature Theatre's production of Georgie: My Adventures With George Rose starts its run tonight. Eric Schaeffer directs.

The 75-minute solo show features 33 different characters. Presenting a conglomeration of reminisces and tantalizing anecdotes, interspersed with snippets of song and dance, Ed Dixon impersonates his friend and mentor George Rose. Chronicling their 20-year friendship with humor and poignancy, the show is a celebration the life of the Tony Award-winning character actor.

Rose, a bon vivant with a flair for the dramatic and eccentric, starred alongside iconic celebrities like Katharine Hepburn, Noël Coward, Dame Edith Evans, Richard Burton, and Laurence Olivier throughout his career. True to his own advice that "it’s all about the story," the show is hilarious and powerful as it recounts the stories of this luminary.

"I am so excited to be debuting [Georgie: My Adventures With George Rose] at Signature, a theater I know and love, shepherded by Eric Schaeffer, a director I know and love," said Ed Dixon. "And all the more so because Georgie is the show that's nearest and dearest to my heart, concerning, as it does, the amazing life and shocking death of my lifelong friend and mentor."

Performances will run through February 7.
