Artistic Director Michael Kahn will be on hand to accept the award for the Company during the Tony Awards ceremony to be presented at the Beacon Theatre in New York on Sunday, June 10 and broadcast live on CBS from 8pm to 11pm (ET/PT time delay).

The Regional Theatre Tony Award honors a non-profit, professional regional theatre that has displayed a continuous level of artistic achievement contributing to the growth of theatre nationally. It is presented annually by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.

In a statement, Kahn remarks, "I am so honored to have the work of the Shakespeare Theatre Company recognized in this way. This is a very touching tribute to have the work of all of the artists and staff who have been a part of our 25-year history acknowledged. We are so thankful to our Board of Trustees, supporters and patrons who have helped shape us into the artistic institution that we have become."
