Virginia’s MetroStage has announced the titles and dates for its upcoming 2012-2013 season.

The season will open with Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris, starring Natascia Diaz (who appeared in the 2006 Off-Broadway production), as well as Bobby Smith, Bayla Whitten, and Sam Ludwig. The production, running August 30-October 21, will be directed by Serge Seiden with choreography by Matt Gardiner.

Next is Kathy Feininger’s A Broadway Christmas Carol, a cross between the Dickens story and Broadway show tune parodies, running November 15-December 23 under the direction of Michael Sharp.

Running January 24-March 17 is Thomas W. Jones II’s and William Knowles Ladies Swing the Blues, a 1955-set musical that explores the music, mythologies, and backstage stories of the 1940s and 1950s jazz scene.

The season concludes with Michael Hollinger’s Ghost-Writer, directed by John Vreeke and running April 18-May 26. In the work, a novelist dies mid-sentence, but a typist continues to take dictation, and no one knows where the words are coming from.
