The world premiere of Kid Victory, the new collaboration from John Kander and Greg Pierce, begins performances tonight at the Arlington, Virginia's Signature Theatre.

The musical focuses on a boy named Luke who reappears after going missing for a year. He and his parents try to readjust to normal life, but Luke seems to connect only with a quirky garden-shop owner named Emily. Throughout it all, the show attempts to portray "what it means to disappear."

Directed by Liesl Tommy, with music by John Kander, book and lyrics by Greg Pierce, and story by Kander and Pierce, the show introduces Jake Winn as Luke. Playing his mother and father are Christiane Noll and Christopher Bloch, with Sarah Litzsinger as Emily and Jeffrey Denman as Michael.

The creative team features Christopher Windom (choreography), David Weiner (light design), Clint Ramos (set design), Kathleen Geldard (costume design), and Lane Elms (sound design).

Performances will run through March 22.
