Arena Stage Welcomes Tony Winner Cleavant Derricks in Pullman Porter Blues

Arena Stage will present the world premiere co-production of Cheryl L. West’s Pullman Porter Blues, November 23-January in the Kreeger Theater, following its opening at Seattle Repertory Theatre. Lisa Peterson directs.

In Pullman Porter Blues, it’s 1937 and the men of the Sykes family—three generations of train porters—battle each other, racial tensions and an uncertain future.

The cast includes E. Faye Butler (Sister Juba), Larry Marshall (Monroe), Tony Award winner Cleavant Derricks (Sylvester), Warner Miller (Cephas), Emily Chisholm (Lutie), Richard Ziman (Tex), Felicia Loud (Sister Juba Understudy), James Patrick Hill (Twist), Jmichael (Keys), Lamar Lofton (Shorty), and Chic Street Man (Slick).

The design team is comprised of Riccardo Hernandez (set design), Constanza Romero (costume design), Alexander V. Nichols (lighting and projection design), and Leon Rothenberg (sound design).
